POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT

As a member of the Development and Organizational Management Teams, the AVP is responsible for identifying and building new revenue, spearheading fundraising growth with current partners, implementing new business cultivation strategies, and coordinating and conducting stewardship calls. By developing, retaining, and growing financial and mission support, the AVP fosters relationships with key constituents at various levels within assigned accounts while also identifying viable opportunities for deeper engagement with UWCM. Works closely with new and existing accounts to plan, organize, and implement fundraising campaigns and other United Way activities to ensure a successful active, ongoing relationship with UWCM. The AVP is responsible for increasing financial resources for UWCM.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

60%   Management & Acquisition of New Partner Relationships

Responsible for generating new revenue for the organization. Personally manages all aspects of acquisition, fundraising and relationship development for a portfolio of new partners, and organizations to increase donor engagement and giving at the company and individual levels. Provides strategic, targeted account management and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include engaging executives/CEOs, existing donors, prospects, and community coordinators, and developing and implementing a strategic approach for each account delivered through a defined workplan. Regularly updates company, donor, and financial results in Development database(s).

Develops and implements strategic plans and tactics for account portfolio to achieve annual     financial, participation, retention, donor stewardship, and resources under management goals to include:

·       Minimum of 75 cultivation meetings annually.

·       Generate new revenue for the organization.

·       Develop year-round relationships with new and existing accounts.

·       Establish best practices for cultivating engagement pipelines for new partners.

·       Provide outstanding customer service.

·       Track and report results in reasonable timeframe.

·       Deepen relationships with executives, coordinators, ambassadors, and donors.

·       Hold strategic donor stewardship conversations that lead to achievement of donor engagement, retention, and increased funding.

·       Increase dollars raised towards Resources Under Management (RUM) for UWCM.

·       Conversion of prospects to revenue.

·       Thought partner in the growth of revenue for UWCM.

Achieves annual portfolio goals and provides leadership towards achievement of total annual organizational fundraising goal.

 

40%      Established Partnership Management and Stewardship

Works closely with supervisor to establish work plans to achieve annual revenue and donor stewardship objectives. Identifies relationship development needs in line with UWCM goals and policies and promotes a cooperative spirit among coworkers and other partners. The AVP participates, organizes, and leads in a cross-functional capacity while sharing learned experiences with the Development Team.

Manages a portfolio of existing accounts with skills required including:

·       Excellent communication and written skills

·       Excellent customer service both externally and internally

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

Education and/or Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in sales-focused roles; bachelor's degree preferred. Related experience in customer relationship management, marketing, and/or communications. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Knowledge and application of electronic pledging, tracking, and communications tools is a plus.

Environment: Must have flexibility to work nights and weekends.  This position requires a desire to be out of the office often at network and industry events. Reliable transportation is a must.

Language & Communications: Must be comfortable and adept in communicating with all levels of corporate partner staff, from front-line employees to executive management. Ability to develop and present high-quality presentations to a variety of group attendees and group sizes – from one-on-one to large meetings of 100+, in-person and virtually. Very strong verbal and written communication skills are required as is the ability to persuasively present UWCM messaging verbally and in writing, adeptly respond to questions, and act as a positive and professional representative of United Way. 

Mathematical Skills: Highly proficient at analyzing and calculating sales performance to goals. Ability to assess performance targets and potential opportunities, track, and report progress to goal.

Reasoning and Self-Management: Ability to analyze complex situations and identify the critical components and dynamics to design creative and appropriate responses with options and solutions. Ability to work effectively with different temperaments/work styles and work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to manage crises calmly and effectively while being able to plan, organize and prioritize one's workload to maximize use of time and meet varied, multiple needs and deadlines.

Leadership: Ability to assess issues and develop plans and tactics to address those issues. Willingness to step up and support organizational goals and needs outside specific job criteria.

Other Critical Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and sound judgment to manage sensitive donors, internal and employee information. Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and in a professional manner.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is regularly required to talk or hear; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs and make verbal presentations to groups (between 10-200 people). Specific vision abilities required by this job include appropriate vision needed to drive as required for a valid driver’s license.
