POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Specialist, Community Engagement & Volunteerism provides opportunities for individuals, communities, and corporate partners to give back through meaningful volunteer activities. The Specialist develops collaborative programs and supportive relationships with nonprofits, foundations, individuals, regional volunteer centers, and other internal and external constituencies. The Specialist is the face of volunteerism, representing United Way in a professional manner during events. They also maintain and analyze data and manage our volunteer platform. This position works with volunteers to meet community needs and encourage engagement with current and potential donors and partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
90% Volunteer/Community Engagement & Event Coordination
- Build and promote a strong network of volunteer opportunities and relationships, including with corporations, nonprofits, unions, school systems, volunteer centers, churches, individuals, and other internal and external constituents
- Develop a suite of volunteer opportunities for individuals, including those with a skills-based focus. Establishes continual virtual volunteering to meet needs of partner orgs
- Assist with large-scale volunteer events from idea to execution and analysis
- Maintain relationships with other nonprofits to encourage use of the UWCM volunteer portal
- Recruit and train volunteers for United Way and partnering agencies
- Survey volunteers to better understand wants and goals of segment
- Works with Digital Marketing to segment and target volunteers with opportunities
- Collaborate with Marketing and Membership Groups to promote volunteer projects
- Manage Kits for a Cause and other opportunities to engage potential partners
- Maintain consistent volunteer message strategy across all divisions
- Hands-on execution of events, including packing, set up, logistics, moving, clean up
10% Data Systems Management
- Update volunteer platform and manages data transfers to CRM
- Analyze volunteer data to better understand and segment volunteers
- Measure success of events with established post-event survey, other metrics
- Manage post-event follow up with volunteers, including thanking and additional ways to connect with United Way
- Demonstrate increases in numbers of volunteers recruited, trained, and retained
- Increase the number of volunteers converted to repeat volunteers and donors

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience; background in volunteer management and/or experience in Human Services preferred
- Experience in program management and working with volunteers of all ages
- Ability to work independently and bring skills in facilitating partnerships, developing collaborative projects, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
- Proficiency in problem solving skills, ability to think strategically and adapt to changing situations
- Sense of humor and enthusiasm for our work and helping others

- Ability to stand, sit, and work long hours
- Ability to lift/carry ~35 lbs
ONBOARDING REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
