A HEALTHIER HORIZON FOR ALL

Our health programs

United Way works day and night to make our neighbors and neighborhoods stronger, more resilient, and healthier.

FOOD AND NUTRITION

People across Greater Baltimore struggle with hunger and access to healthy food options. We work to provide enough—and better—food for every family by:

  • providing food and meals
  • ensuring that communities have healthier shopping options and easier access to nutritious food, and
  • increasing awareness related to wellness and nutrition.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

The pandemic is affecting us all--and it’s taking an even stronger toll on people who were already fighting just to try to stay ahead of the bills, to make sure they or their families had a home, and had food on the table.

We’ve been out in the community helping people cope with and deal with the impact COVID is having on their lives.

Our case managers are meeting virtually with residents in South Baltimore’s Brooklyn/Curtis Bay neighborhood, giving them a safe space to talk about what’s happening and how it affects them.

We’re giving out information and materials in the neighborhoods we serve to help people learn about the warning signs for mental health issues, and tips to combat stress and anxiety. These kits also include items like stress balls and coloring books to encourage mindfulness and help people shift their focus away from their worries and anxiety.
