“Neighbors United University was a space not just to inform but transform.” – Michelle R., Neighbors United University graduate
Michelle joined fourteen other Baltimore City residents to celebrate the contributions and inspiring futures of the first cohort of Neighbors United University at a special graduation at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center. These leaders came together in November 2024 and have been learning together to make meaningful change in their communities. The graduation was the culmination of more than 6 months of collaboration. Guests heard about the importance of spaces like Neighbors United University where changemakers come together to develop skills, gain experiences, and foster relationships.
To highlight the graduation, Tom Coale, a lobbyist at Perry Jacobson, delivered a moving keynote address, telling program graduates that powerful advocacy exists everywhere and that they belong everywhere. He reminded them that, “When we lose, it’s only the people who get back up who have the chance to win again.” He closed by sharing he looks forward to seeing the participants and their work, perhaps around the halls of Annapolis.
As with any graduation, the night concluded with a certificate presentation for the 15 graduates of the program.
