Local organizations could receive up to $10,000 in funding
Baltimore, MD (October 27, 2021) – United Way of Central Maryland opened grant applications for its Neighborhood Grant program. The funding opportunity for non-profits and other organizations throughout the Greater Baltimore region is seeking projects that inspire community connection and amplify the efforts of local leaders to build upon, and support, their work happening at the neighborhood level.
Launched in 2020, United Way of Central Maryland Neighborhood Grants are an opportunity for neighborhood-centered organizations with total annual operating budgets under $500,000 in their current fiscal year to receive between $2,500 and $10,000 in funding to carry out neighborhood-centered projects informed by local residents.
“Last year’s Neighborhood Grant program allowed us to work with several new organizations, providing support to communities and groups we had not had the opportunity to work with in the past,” said Franklyn Baker, president and CEO, United Way of Central Maryland. “We also continued and expanded relationships with organizations we know well. The era of prescriptive solutions and top-down philanthropy is over. At United Way, we’re working to surface and support leaders and change-agents from within the communities we serve.”
Eligible organizations can apply to implement projects this upcoming Spring that build on community assets to strengthen:
- Vibrant neighborhood spaces
- Socially connected and active neighborhood residents
- The impact of local leaders
Applications must be submitted by Monday, November 22, 2021 at 5 p.m. (EST). Organizations wishing to apply are strongly encouraged to attend (via Zoom) United Way’s Neighborhood Grant Information Session on October 28, 2021, 12:30 – 2 p.m.
