United Way of Central Maryland proudly recognizes Girls Who Walk Baltimore (GWWB) as our Volunteer Superhero of the Month. This remarkable community makes a difference beyond the pavement with every stride.
GWWB partnered with United Way of Central Maryland in April for a Volunteer to Go! kit-packing project. They hosted a birthday walk in celebration of their first birthday as a community. With the support of more than 1,000 women walking in solidarity, the group raised more than $1,000 and packed more than 300 feminine hygiene kits to support women and girls throughout Central Maryland.
At the heart of this movement are Volunteer Superheroes Emily and Summer, founders of Girls Who Walk Baltimore. Driven by their commitment to connection, empowerment, and community care, they’ve built more than a walking group—they’ve created a platform for action. Their passion for ensuring all women access essential products speaks volumes. Their team shared that “Everyone should have access to feminine hygiene.”
We are deeply grateful to collaborate with GWWB and applaud how they’ve used their platform to elevate an often overlooked but critical need in our region. Their leadership, energy, and generosity have made a lasting impact—helping women feel seen, supported, and cared for.
