“Maryland does better when women do better.” – Brooke Lierman, Maryland Comptroller
Our Women United membership network recently gathered at Junior Achievement to hear an inspiring conversation with Maryland Comptroller, Brooke Lierman and Women United Executive Council member, Vickie Cosby.
Comptroller Lierman shared women’s workforce participation in Maryland dropped significantly post-COVID, mostly due to childcare costs. “Childcare is a financial issue,” Comptroller Lierman said. We couldn’t agree more, which is why we’ve established Family Centers in Baltimore City and Howard County that provide high quality, affordable, accessible childcare using innovative program and funding models to support the whole family.
Women United has consistently demonstrated their dedication to tackling our region’s childcare crisis, hosting events like the Women’s Forum, crucial conversations like this, and supporting our United for Childcare initiative.
