POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Specialist, Community Engagement & Volunteerism provides opportunities for individuals, communities, and corporate partners to give back through meaningful volunteer activities. This person is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing high‑impact volunteer events that support our mission and engage our corporate and community partners. This role combines event logistics, hands‑on setup, administrative support, and relationship‑building. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, comfortable speaking to groups, and excited to create meaningful volunteer experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
80%Volunteer/Community Engagement & Event Coordination
- Hands-on execution of events, including packing, set up, logistics, moving, clean up.
- Interact professionally with clients, partners, and volunteers to ensure a positive experience.
- Collaborate with Development to plan engaging events for corporate partners
- Assist with large-scale volunteer events from idea to execution and analysis
- Develop creative strategies to engage corporate partners and enhance their volunteer involvement.
- Works with Digital Marketing to segment and target volunteers with opportunities
- Collaborate with United Way Program Directors to best meet the needs in the community
- Speak confidently to groups of volunteers about our mission, impact, and community work.
- Manage “Volunteer to Go” and other opportunities to engage potential partners
- Maintain consistent volunteer message strategy across all divisions
20% Administrative and Clerical Support
- Update volunteer platform and manage data transfers to CRM
- Handle invoicing, contracts, and vendor coordination
- Manage event inventory, materials, and transportation needs.
- Maintain accurate records of event participation, expenses, and partner engagement
- Support general office tasks related to event preparation and follow‑up
- Demonstrate increases in numbers of volunteers recruited, trained, and retained
- Increase the number of volunteers converted to repeat volunteers and donors
INTERACTION:
- Maintain connections and networks to form effective community partnerships with collaborators such as churches, volunteer centers, partner agencies, government entities, and others
- Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team
- Present a professional and positive image as a representative of UWCM
- Ability to work well independently and on a team

- Coordinates volunteer projects with agencies and businesses

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience; background in volunteer/event management and/or experience in Human Services preferred
- Experience in program management and working with volunteers of all ages
- Ability to work independently and bring skills in facilitating partnerships, developing collaborative projects, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
- Proficiency in problem solving skills, ability to think strategically and adapt to changing situations
- Sense of humor and enthusiasm for our work and helping others

- Ability to stand, sit, and work long hours
- Ability to lift/carry ~35 lbs
