Dr. Ellen H. Yankellow, BSP, PharmD, is the president and CEO of Correct Rx Pharmacy Services, Inc., and a national leader in advancing clinical pharmacy.
Dr. Yankellow is regarded as one of the country’s leading women pharmacists and institutional pharmacy experts. Her business model is based on innovative clinical programs that offer better medical outcomes and lower healthcare costs.
Dr. Yankellow’s extraordinary business success is equally matched by her commitment to and passion for community activism and philanthropy. She is very involved in multiple community, civic, and private organizations and gives generously of her time, talents, and treasures. “I have spent so much of my adult life trying to make a difference in my profession, my workplace, and in the greater community,” says Dr. Yankellow. “I was privileged to have a peek behind the curtains and see firsthand people being generous with their time, talent, and treasure, and making a real difference in the community. I once read, ‘Great lives belong to men and women who see life as a generosity contest.’ It made a tremendous impression on me.” Dr. Yankellow has created a culture of generosity that pervades every aspect of her business and community.
Dr. Yankellow supports a wide variety of organizations, but her dedication to helping others is significant. She is relentless in ensuring that education and training are provided to those who require support, particularly in the realms of Catholic education and community health.
As a pioneer and leader in the field of institutional pharmacy services, Dr. Yankellow feels a great responsibility to support the industry. One of the ways she demonstrates this strong commitment is her ongoing support of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (SOP), from which she graduated with honors in 1973 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy in 1996.
During the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s most recent capital campaign, Dr. Yankellow donated the largest gift ever from a female graduate. Her gift resulted in the naming of the Ellen H. Yankellow Grand Atrium in Pharmacy Hall and the establishment of a first-of-its-kind fellowship at the School designed to capture health outcomes and economic data about the value of clinical pharmacy services.
Dr. Yankellow provides both personal and corporate support to the Maryland Alzheimer’s Association Memory Ball Dancing Stars Gala. Dr. Yankellow has worked tirelessly to gather corporate commitments to support this annual event. As a result of her efforts, the total funds raised increase annually. Dr. Yankellow received the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2016 Exemplary Leadership Award as well as the 2010 Helen C. Schulze Award.
Dr. Yankellow is one of the Founders of the American Heart Association’s Baltimore Go Red for Women’s Circle of Red. The Circle of Red is a society of women with the passion, motivation, and inspiration to drive and influence change regarding women’s heart health in their community and across the country.
Dr. Yankellow serves on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the past commissioner of the Maryland Board of Pharmacy, the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Board of Visitors, the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. where she serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Seton Shrine National Leaders Council, the Catholic Community Foundation Board of Trustees, Women’s Leadership Council, St. Mary’s Seminary and University serving as a Trustee and Officer, and the United Way of Central Maryland Leadership and Philanthropic Network.
